The biggest upset of the week belonged to Modesto, who took down 681st ranked Modesto, 27-21.
Downey moved up to 137 from 200 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Modesto Metro. The Knights climbed the ranks as a result of beating Enochs 45-14.
Aaron Zwahlen and Juan Vaa-Ayala gave Downey a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Zwahlen threw for 136 yards and three touchdowns, while Vaa-Ayala ran for 182 yards. Teammate Zwahlen added to the ground attack by rushing for two yards.
Gonzalo Palominos made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Eagles fell to Jeremy Plaa's team. The 5-foot-11 senior grabbed one sack.
Shawn Munoz provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Enochs lost to the Knights. He completed 12 passes for 193 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 41 yards. Munoz's favorite target this week was Joshua Quevedo, who caught five passes for 155 yards.
Downey's Zwahlen and Richard Lopez have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Zwahlen has thrown for 2338 yards this season, while Lopez, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 36 catches for 739 yards. James Stacy's team's Munoz leads the league in rushing yards with 911.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Knights take on Davis. At the moment, Downey is in first, while the Spartans are in fourth.
The Knights extended the longest winning streak in Modesto Metro this week by beating the Eagles, 45-14. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
