Fernley has gone 8-2 against Spring Creek recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Vaqueros are taking a road trip to square off against the Spartans at 3:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Fernley has four straight victories, Spring Creek has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Fernley not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 15th. They blew past Dayton 13-3. Considering the Vaqueros have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Emma Masters spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Taylor Tollestrup, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 4-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted over her last seven contests. Another player making a difference was Sara Moffett, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Tollestrup wasn't the only one making solid contact: Fernley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Spring Creek suffered their closest defeat since March 14th on Saturday. They fell just short of Lowry by a score of 14-12. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Ashlynn Sorenson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Hannah Montoya was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.
Fernley pushed their record up to 13-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Spring Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.
Fernley skirted past Spring Creek 6-5 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vaqueros since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
