Kennedy Catholic has gone a perfect 4-0 against St. Joseph-by-the-Sea recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Gaels will be playing at home against the Vikings at 4:15 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Kennedy Catholic 3.2, St. Joseph-by-the-Sea 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Kennedy Catholic took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Mt. St. Michael Academy 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Gaels have posted since April 9, 2024.
Duncan Siller looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Lorenzo Jorge was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Ryan D'Ambrosio was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph-by-the-Sea had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Cardinals. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Vikings this season.
Anthony Mazzo looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Anthony DePetro, who fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Gioacchino Bonsangue, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
St. Joseph-by-the-Sea always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
St. Joseph-by-the-Sea's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Kennedy Catholic, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
