Baseball Recap: Soper Wins Going Away Against Milburn

While Soper put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Milburn. The Bears were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over the Eagles. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won seven contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Caleb Britt made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Britt was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Dallin Gilbert was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. He has become a key player for Soper: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 4-6 otherwise. Caydin Carter also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Soper always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Milburn only posted an OBP of .111.

Soper has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Milburn, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Soper will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Kiowa at 4:30 p.m. on the 18th. As for Milburn, they will take on Turner at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
