Basketball Game Preview: Community Charter Titans vs. Triumph Charter Jaguars

Community Charter and Triumph Charter are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The Community Charter Titans will welcome the Triumph Charter Jaguars at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Community Charter is looking for their season's first victory.

Community Charter is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. The match between them and Bert Corona Charter didn't end well, with Community Charter falling 63-47. While the Titans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Knights 17-13 in the first quarter.

Despite the defeat, Community Charter saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Edem Ladzepko went 11 of 19 on his way to 30 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ladzepko has scored all season. Ulises Borja also deserves some recognition as he pulled down his first boards of the season.

Even though they lost, Community Charter was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Triumph Charter unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak last Saturday. They lost to Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary on the road by a 66-47 margin.

The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Antonio Garcia III and Jose Padilla. Padilla had a great game and went 11 for 15 en route to 26 points along with five assists and three steals. Meanwhile, Garcia III did his best for the losing side, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Community Charter's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Triumph Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

Community Charter was taken down by Triumph Charter 85-42 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Garcia III, who posted 32 points. Now that Community Charter knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time?
