The Crestwood Comets will square off against the Wyoming Valley West Spartans at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Crestwood will be strutting in after a victory while Wyoming Valley West will be coming in after a defeat.
Crestwood is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Berwick get on the board and left with an 11-0 win on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Comets considering their two-run performance the match before.
Chris Litchkofski tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He has become a key player for Crestwood: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 2-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Zack Stavish, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Rodgers, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Crestwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Wyoming Valley West fell victim to Pittston and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 20-0 to the Patriots. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.
Crestwood's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-5. As for Wyoming Valley West, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Crestwood has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Wyoming Valley West struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Crestwood beat Wyoming Valley West 7-4 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Comets repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
