Vista Ridge is 1-9 against Vandegrift since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Vista Ridge Rangers will head out on the road to face off against the Vandegrift Vipers at 7:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Vista Ridge has struggled recently with 12 losses in a row, while Vandegrift will arrive with three straight wins.
Last Tuesday, Vista Ridge had to suffer through a rough 65-35 loss at the hands of Manor. While losing is never fun, Vista Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 673rd, while Manor is ranked 84th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Lucas Lyle, who scored nine points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of James Hester, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, in a tight game that could have gone either way, Vandegrift made off with a 47-46 victory over Cedar Ridge.
Vista Ridge has been struggling recently as they've lost 15 of their last 16 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-25 record this season. As for Vandegrift, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 21 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Vista Ridge, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 45-26 loss to Vandegrift when the teams last played back in January. Can Vista Ridge avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
