Basketball Recap: Countryside Piles Up the Points Against Osceola

Countryside won the last time they faced Osceola and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Countryside Cougars simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Osceola Warriors 69-25. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

Countryside's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Julia Smith led the charge by going 5 for 9 to rack up 13 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Smith has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Wright, who went 6 of 7 on her way to 18 points in addition to seven assists and six steals.

Countryside was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Osceola only racked up seven assists.

When it comes to explaining why Osceola lost, don't look at Brianna Davidson. Despite the final result, she posted ten points along with five boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Adrian Jenezon, who put up two points in addition to five rebounds and three blocks.

Countryside is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.2 points over those games. As for Osceola, they dropped their record down to 7-13 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Countryside has already played their next game, a 56-43 win against St. Petersburg on the 30th. As for Osceola, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 69-35 victory against Pinellas Park on the 31st.
