Baseball Recap: Bethany Community Has No Trouble Against Clover Garden School

Bethany Community made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Clover Garden School, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Bethany Community Wolves put the hurt on the Clover Garden School Grizzlies with a sharp 16-6 victory on Thursday. This was payback for the Wolves, who suffered an 18-5 loss the last time these two teams met.

Brooks Lawson made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Lawson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season.

In other batting news, Landen Long was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Brooks McDowell was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.

Bethany Community always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Bethany Community pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Clover Garden School, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bethany Community will hit the road for the first time this season to take on Millennium at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Bethany Community is facing Millennium at the right time seeing as Millennium is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Clover Garden School, they will head out on the road to square off against Williams at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Williams will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Clover Garden School surely won't give up without a fight.
