On Friday, the St. Mark's Spartans faced the Salesianum Sallies in a battle between two of the state's top teams. St. Mark's was beaten by Salesianum 47-12. St. Mark's has struggled against Salesianum recently, as their game on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, St. Mark's still got an impressive performance from Logan Klein, who gained 71 total yards and two touchdowns.
St. Mark's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-3 Hodgson Vo-Tech and 7-3 Cape Henlopen (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 72.5% over those games). As for Salesianum, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
St. Mark's does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Salesianum will look to defend their home field on Friday against Smyrna at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Delaware (Smyrna is ranked seventh, while Salesianum is ranked first).
