Basketball Recap: Sidwell Friends Drops Season-High Score on Bishop O'connell

Sidwell Friends scored the most points they've had this season on Sunday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 65-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bishop O'Connell Knights. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Quakers of the 46-45 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2024.

Bishop O'Connell's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Darius Bivins, who shot 60% from the field on his way to 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Bivins has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Edwards, who went 5-for-6 to rack up 14 points and seven boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Sidwell Friends and nudges their season record down to 1-4. As for Bishop O'Connell, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Looking ahead, Sidwell Friends will be home for the holidays to greet St. Andrew's Episcopal at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Quakers will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 59.17 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Bishop O'Connell, they will take on Milton in a tournament on Friday.
