The Lompoc Braves will head out on the road to face off against the Frontier Titans at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lompoc is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Lompoc made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Templeton, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Lompoc never let Templeton get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory on Friday. The Braves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 11 runs or more this season.
The result came thanks to Alex Brooks's shutout, as she gave up just five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Lompoc let Grace Day and Rianna Stouppe run wild. Day went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double, while Stouppe scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most RBI Day has posted since back in February of 2024. Lynette Miguel also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Lompoc hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in five consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Frontier beat Arroyo Grande 8-5 on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Titans.
Taylor Sloss spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Charley Hawkins was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Adalynn Garcia, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Frontier's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lompoc, their record now sits at 4-0.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lompoc hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .400. However, it's not like Frontier struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lompoc came up short against Frontier in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 8-5. Can Lompoc avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
