Kenzie Delaney was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Alexis Burton was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Brenda Scott, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBI.
Ridgedale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Waynesfield-Goshen made easy work of Perry on Monday and carried off a 15-1 victory. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Commodores recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Like Ridgedale, Waynesfield-Goshen also got a great game from a two-way player: Tarynn Vorhes. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Vorhes was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rayne Oakes, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. Tegan Kirian also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Ridgedale's record now sits at 8-4. As for Waynesfield-Goshen, their record is now an identical 8-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Ridgedale hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Waynesfield-Goshen struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Ridgedale took their victory against Waynesfield-Goshen in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 8-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rockets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
