Viera and Heritage are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2015, but not for long. The Viera Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Heritage Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Viera has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Even though Viera has not done well against Rockledge recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Viera breezed by Rockledge on the road to the tune of 61-27. Given Viera's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while Rockledge is ranked 520th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lauren Bell continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 28 points. The match was her sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Phantasia Lauriston, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Heritage was beaten by Palm Bay 56-7 on Tuesday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Heritage in their matchups with Palm Bay: they've now lost five in a row.
Viera's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Heritage, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Viera strolled past Heritage in their previous meeting back in February by a score of 67-53. Will Viera repeat their success, or does Heritage have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
