The Devine Warhorses will challenge the Lago Vista Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Devine comes in on four and Lago Vista on 17.
Devine is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They walked away with a 10-5 victory over Gonzales.
The team relied heavily on Maddie Brown, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Skylar Blanton, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Lago Vista won against Canyon Lake on Friday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Vikings beat Canyon Lake by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 8-2. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 matches by six runs or more this season.
Winter Callahan made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Audrey Ferguson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Sydney Mosser was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Lago Vista's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-9. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.1 runs over those games. As for Devine, their win bumped their record up to 24-5.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Devine hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .388. However, it's not like Lago Vista struggles in that department as they've averaged .418. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
