Softball Recap: Mark Keppel Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Mark Keppel, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Bell Gardens Lancers on Thursday. The Aztecs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by seven runs or more this season.

Robyn Guitron made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Guitron was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with five RBI and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Avigail Navarro, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Sarah Lucero, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Mark Keppel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .633. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Mark Keppel's record now sits at 13-6. As for Bell Gardens, their loss dropped their record down to 14-10.

Coming up, Mark Keppel will take on Ramona Convent at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Aztecs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 10.2 runs per game this season. As for Bell Gardens, they will face off against Montebello at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
