South Johnston has gone a perfect 8-0 against Southern Wayne recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The South Johnston Trojans will face off against the Southern Wayne Saints at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Johnston has six straight wins, Southern Wayne has ten straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Tuesday, South Johnston made easy work of C.B. Aycock and carried off a 13-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won five matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Ava Strickland was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Reese Penny was a standout: she scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Olivia Crumpler was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.
South Johnston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as C.B. Aycock only posted an OBP of .375.
Meanwhile, Southern Wayne lost 24-3 to Hunt on Tuesday.
Southern Wayne saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Morgan Brimberry, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.
South Johnston's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Southern Wayne, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.
Southern Wayne's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: South Johnston hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .408. It's a different story for Southern Wayne, though, as they've only averaged .241. Will they be able to contain South Johnston's hitters?
South Johnston took their victory against Southern Wayne when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0. Does South Johnston have another victory up their sleeve, or will Southern Wayne turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
