Basketball Recap: Kate Breault Key Part of a Team Effort in Huskies Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against North Mecklenburg, Hough was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They strolled past the Chambers Cougars with points to spare, taking the game 58-40. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Cougars are ranked 346th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hough's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kate Breault, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 boards. Those 14 rebounds gave Breault a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Galombeck, who posted 15 points and three steals.

Hough smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Hough has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.6 points per game. As for Chambers, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.

Hough has already played their next game, a 74-22 win against West Mecklenburg on the 31st. As for Chambers, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 40-39 loss against Harding University on the 31st.
