The Osborne Bulldogs came tearing into Friday's game with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 59-50 victory over Lakeside. Given Osborne's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while the Knights are ranked 236th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ian Kresin, who scored 15 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Jace Cunningham, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
Lakeside struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Osborne's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. As for Lakeside, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.
Osborne has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Tigers on February 2nd. Lakeside is on the road again on Friday and plays the Grizzlies at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd.
