Baseball Recap: Jim Thorpe Wins Going Away Against Pen Argyl

Jim Thorpe won against Wilson Area last Friday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Jim Thorpe was the clear victor by a 10-3 margin over the Pen Argyl Green Knights. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Olympians.

Nikolas Schwartz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits.

At the plate, Cole Lazorick was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three). Noah Pastor was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Jim Thorpe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pen Argyl only posted an OBP of .357.

Jim Thorpe now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Pen Argyl, their loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2.

Coming up, Jim Thorpe will face off against Salisbury Township at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Salisbury Township will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Jim Thorpe surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pen Argyl, they will square off against Lehighton at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Pen Argyl's pitchers better be ready for this one: Lehighton has averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
