Basketball Recap: East Fairmont Comes Up Short

East Fairmont easily dispatched Philip Barbour last Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The East Fairmont Bees fell just short of the Summit Christian Academy Falcons by a score of 58-55 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Bees have suffered since February 22nd.

Despite the loss, East Fairmont saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jaxon Conaway went 6 of 12 en route to 13 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for Conaway. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacen Beckley, who posted ten points and six rebounds.

Summit Christian Academy was led to victory by MJ Patton and Eli Patton. MJ went 8 of 19 on his way to 23 points in addition to five assists and four steals, while Eli went 5 of 10 on his way to 20 points. MJ is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kyler Carpenter, who had six points.

East Fairmont's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Summit Christian Academy, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

East Fairmont will host Grafton at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Summit Christian Academy, they will head out to take on Princeton at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Summit Christian Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
