The Plainfield Quakers and the Pike Red Devils will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard on Saturday.
With a playoff game on the line, Plainfield rose to the challenge on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 59-12 victory over the Patriots on the road. Plainfield has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 24 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Hannah Menser, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Payton Benge, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Pike had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They escaped with a win against Franklin Central by the margin of a single free throw, 61-60.
The victory was also the third in a row for Plainfield, bringing their record for this year to 17-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.7 points per game. As for Pike, their win bumped their record up to 12-14.
