It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Wells Leopards ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 28-27 win over Pahranagat Valley. This was payback for Wells, who suffered a 45-19 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Lillian Harney was the offensive standout of the game as she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Harney is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Callie Brodsho, who scored 9 points.
Defeat or not, Pahranagat Valley got some senior leadership from Roxi Hughes who scored 8 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals and Sidnee Spencer who scored 6 points along with 7 rebounds. Hughes scored a full 29.6% of Pahranagat Valley's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Wells now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Pahranagat Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Wells will face off against GV Christian at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. GV Christian is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Pahranagat Valley is on the road again on Saturday and play against Owyhee at 9:30 a.m. on December 2nd.
