Pleasanton is a perfect 10-0 against Carrizo Springs since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Pleasanton Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Carrizo Springs Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Pleasanton 3.6, Carrizo Springs 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Pleasanton picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Victoria West 7-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.
The team relied heavily on Marcus Guardiola, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2. That's the most stolen bases he has posted over his last 12 contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Garcia, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Carrizo Springs put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by a 9-3 margin over Dilley. Considering the Wildcats have won five games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Mathan Cruz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Adrian Moreno was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played. Phillip Briseno also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Carrizo Springs pushed their record up to 10-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Pleasanton, their record now sits at 8-3.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Pleasanton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .435. However, it's not like Carrizo Springs struggles in that department as they've averaged .544. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pleasanton took their victory against Carrizo Springs in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-2. Does Pleasanton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Carrizo Springs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
