Valley Christian is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Saint Francis is on a 15-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Warriors will host the Lancers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Valley Christian 2.5, Saint Francis 1.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Valley Christian was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against St. Ignatius College Preparatory on Wednesday. The Warriors put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 9-2 victory. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by six runs or more this season.
Hannah Paquiz made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Melody Gonzales looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Makena Blauman was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Sia Marsh, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Saint Francis earned a 7-2 win over Archbishop Mitty on Wednesday. The Lancers haven't had any issues with the Monarchs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Hailey Nguyen looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Maya Yumiba, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Hayden Hummel was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Valley Christian has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Saint Francis, their victory bumped their record up to 24-2.
Both Valley Christian and Saint Francis just can't seem to miss. The Warriors have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Saint Francis struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Valley Christian might still be hurting after the 9-2 defeat they got from Saint Francis when the teams last played two weeks ago. Will the Warriors have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
