The Cypress Centurions will take on the California Condors at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Cypress: 1.2, California: 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
California will be up against a hot Cypress team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Cypress put the hurt on Kennedy with a sharp 7-1 win on Monday. Considering the Centurions have won three matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Kylie Santander looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sadie Sievers, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Those home runs marked the first that she's launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Bishop, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Cypress was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kennedy only posted a batting average of .192.
Meanwhile, California didn't have quite enough to beat Alta Loma on Saturday and fell 4-3.
California also got a good showing from Alexis Salas, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
On the hitting side, California saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Cypress' victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs over those games. As for California, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cypress has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like California struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Cypress came up short against California in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 6-1. Will Cypress have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
