The Bear River Bears will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Davis Darts at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bear River is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Bear River had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Bountiful on Wednesday. Bear River's pitcher stepped up to hand Bountiful a 16-0 shutout. The Bears' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Holden Potter made a big impact no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those RBI were his first of the season.
In other batting news, Brooks Drollinger was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Dallin Rice was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
Bear River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bountiful only posted an OBP of .077.
Meanwhile, Davis narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Clearfield 4-3. The Darts haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Lincoln Green looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Owen Talbot, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
The win got Bear River back to even at 2-2. As for Davis, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
Bear River came up short against Davis in their previous matchup back in March of 2021, falling 10-7. Will Bear River have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
