Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Vanguard

Vanguard lost to Dunnellon back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Vanguard Knights had just enough and edged the Dunnellon Tigers out 7-6. The Knights' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

JJ Thomas looked comfortable as he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Gavin Aiton was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. Aiton is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's stolen at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Vanguard's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-0. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs across that stretch. As for Dunnellon, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vanguard will welcome P.K. Yonge at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Vanguard is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Dunnellon, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Tigers challenge the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
