Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lone Oak). They were the clear victors by a 21-8 margin over the Commerce Tigers on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Buffaloes sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Clayton Wallace was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
In other batting news, Lone Oak got a massive performance out of Haydin Shires, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Cason McBride was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
Lone Oak always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .711. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Lone Oak pushed their record up to 8-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Commerce, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-18.
