Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Basic

Basic had won two straight games and Amare Oba did his part to make it three on Monday. The Basic Wolves sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 68-66 win over the Damonte Ranch Mustangs thanks in part to Oba, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 12 boards. The contest was his tenth in a row with at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Hunter McGory, who posted seven points and five rebounds. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

When it comes to explaining why Damonte Ranch lost, don't look at Jeriah Macias. Despite the final result, he went 8 of 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 30 points and five assists. Macias has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Drew Dodson was another key player, putting up 15 points and five rebounds.

Basic has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.2 points per game. As for Damonte Ranch, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

Basic will be playing in front of their home fans against Green Valley at 6:30 p.m. on January 6th. As for Damonte Ranch, they will venture away from home to take on Carson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Damonte Ranch is facing Carson at the right time seeing as Carson is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
