Notre Dame Prep is a perfect 4-0 against West Bloomfield since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Fighting Irish will be playing at home against the Lakers at 4:30 p.m. Notre Dame Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.
Notre Dame Prep is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Stoney Creek just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Saturday. They came up short against the Cougars, falling 12-2.
Notre Dame Prep saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katherine Healy, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Bloomfield). They blew past Harper Woods 22-7 on Tuesday. The Lakers not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 20, 2024 (when they won 15-0).
MORGAN CHRISTIAN and CHARLIE BOWER did most of the damage at the plate: CHRISTIAN went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, four runs, and one double, while BOWER went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. The dominant performance also gave BOWER a new career-high in RBI (two). LAIKEN CONNOR was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
West Bloomfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Notre Dame Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 14-5. As for West Bloomfield, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-13.
West Bloomfield's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Notre Dame Prep has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. It's a different story for West Bloomfield, though, as they've been averaging 9.5 hits. Given Notre Dame Prep's sizable advantage in that area, the Lakers will need to find a way to close that gap.
Notre Dame Prep took their victory against West Bloomfield in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 20-5 score. Do the Fighting Irish have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lakers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
