Briarcrest Christian has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on The Memphis University Owls at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Briarcrest Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 86th, while Memphis University is ranked third).
After soaring to 56 points the game before, Briarcrest Christian were a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They took a 21-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ensworth.
Despite the loss, Briarcrest Christian had strong showings from Josiah (JoJo) Saleem, who rushed for 46 yards and two touchdowns, and Cade Carlson, who threw for 130 yards on 14 of 24 attempts.
Meanwhile, Memphis University entered their tilt with Oakhaven with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Memphis University blew past Oakhaven 42-0 at home. The result was nothing new for Memphis University, who have now won four matches by 37 points or more so far this season.
Memphis University's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Brady Hughes, who rushed for 42 yards and two touchdowns, and Tyler Perry, who rushed for 49 yards and two touchdowns.
Briarcrest Christian now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Memphis University, their win was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1.
Briarcrest Christian couldn't quite finish off Memphis University when the teams last played back in September of 2022 and fell 19-17. Can Briarcrest Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
