Southside has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against The Moody Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Southside will be strutting in after a win while Moody will be coming in after a loss.
Southside put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Alexandria 49-21 at home. Given Southside's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while Alexandria is ranked 275th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mason Teague was on fire: he rushed for 271 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. Teague is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last eight games he's played. Southside also got help from Cayden Mcmichael who showed off his sure hands for 87 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Moody's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Leeds by a score of 24-21.
The losing side was boosted by Charlie Johnston, who threw for 221 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Ka'darius Barnes, who picked up 66 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Southside's win was their seventh straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.6 points per game. As for Moody, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2.
Southside suffered a grim 35-13 defeat to Moody in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can Southside avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
