Dixie has gone a perfect 8-0 against Canyon View recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Dixie Flyers will be playing at home against the Canyon View Falcons at 7:30 p.m. Dixie is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Canyon View will be up against a hot Dixie squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Dixie walked away with a 9-4 win over Springville on Saturday.
Ethan McArthur spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Marcus Benson, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Those runs were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Max Larkin, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Benson wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Dixie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Canyon View didn't have quite enough to beat Desert Hills on Tuesday and fell 10-9. The Falcons have struggled against the Thunder recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meetings.
Zach Maine was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Jake Thomas was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
Dixie's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Canyon View, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
Dixie's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. Dixie has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Canyon View, though, as they've been averaging only 0.4 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Dixie continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Dixie's way against Canyon View in their previous meeting back in April of 2021, as Dixie made off with a 12-0 win. Does Dixie have another victory up their sleeve, or will Canyon View turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
