The Norview Pilots won the last time they faced the Maury Commodores, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Norview blew past Maury 74-32 at home. Given Norview's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Maury is ranked 344th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Norview's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Leyla Minor, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. Minor is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Kiyah Fitchett was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with seven steals and six assists.
Norview pushed their record up to 2-1 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 50.7 points. As for Maury, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Coincidentally, Norview and Maury will both be playing Granby the next time they take the court. Norview will host Granby at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, while Maury will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
