The Bellbrook Golden Eagles will take on the Clinton-Massie Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bellbrook is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Bellbrook proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 12) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They never let Ross get on the board and left with a 1-0 win.
Not much got past Abigail Hebrank (2028), who gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks to keep Ross off the board. Hebrank (2028) has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Aleina Powell (2028) was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
Meanwhile, Clinton-Massie entered their tilt with Batavia on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Bulldogs 11-2. Considering the Falcons have won four games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ava Crombie made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. Crombie was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Karley Goodin was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Kalli Jodrey, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Clinton-Massie hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matches.
Bellbrook is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Clinton-Massie, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
Bellbrook's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. The Golden Eagles have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Clinton-Massie, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Bellbrook continue to outrun the ball?
Bellbrook took their victory against Clinton-Massie in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-5 score. Will the Golden Eagles repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
