Destin is 0-5 against Paxton since January of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Destin Sharks just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Paxton Bobcats at 7:15 p.m. on January 23rd. Destin has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 257 points over their last four matches.
Destin can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent match on Monday. They breezed by Freeport on the road to the tune of 66-21. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Destin has posted since December 5, 2023.
Destin's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tyler Flynt, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Nixon, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Paxton had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They came out on top against Florala by a score of 48-36.
Paxton relied on the efforts of Collin Stewart, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds, and Noah Morgan, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Ryker Stokes was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Destin has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. As for Paxton, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Destin hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 60.2 points per game. It's a different story for Paxton, though, as they've been averaging only 54.9 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Destin came up short against Paxton when the teams last played on January 2nd, falling 55-51. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Paxton's Sawyer Adams, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. Now that Destin knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
