Johnson and the Rattlers are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Johnson Jaguars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Reagan Rattlers at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Johnson comes in on three and the Rattlers on eight.
Last Wednesday, Johnson beat the Cougars 52-43.
Johnson can attribute much of their success to Daryl Banks, who scored 11 points along with two blocks, and Marc Anthony, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Ian Rizo, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Reagan over the Mavericks in every quarter on their way to victory on Wednesday. Reagan took down the Mavericks 61-43.
Reagan had a senior duo take command as Aidan Richard scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and Kenneth Manuel scored 18 points. Richard is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 18 or more in the last 11 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of James Scannell, who scored nine points.
Johnson has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-17 record this season. As for Reagan, they pushed their record up to 19-10 with that win, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Saturday's match is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Johnson have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 38.9% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Reagan struggles in that department as they've made 46.7% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Johnson came up short against the Rattlers when the teams last played back in January, falling 53-48. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Richard, who scored 28 points along with eight rebounds. Now that Johnson knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
