Basketball Recap: Alaeya Randle's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Omaha North over Bellevue West

Omaha North lost against Bellevue West back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Omaha North Vikings fell 63-55 to the Bellevue West Thunderbirds. The Vikings just can't catch a break and have now endured five defeats in a row.

Omaha North lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Alaeya Randle, who went 7 for 12 on her way to 16 points in addition to five boards and four steals. That's the most points Randle has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Sierra Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Omaha North smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 15 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Bellevue West found their leader in freshman Stevie Harley, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. With that strong performance, Harley is now averaging an impressive 8.1 boards per game. Da?Nyla Tatum was another key player, putting up 12 points and six rebounds.

Omaha North's record now sits at 2-6. As for Bellevue West, they pushed their record up to 5-5 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Omaha North and Millard South will meet in a classic North v. South matchup at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Omaha North is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.6 points per game this season. As for Bellevue West, they will challenge Lincoln at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Bellevue West also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 54.7 points per game.
