Bishop Gorman is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Monday. They will look to defend their home field against the Coronado Cougars at 3:30 p.m. Bishop Gorman is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

Coronado will be up against a hot Bishop Gorman team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Bishop Gorman blew past Sierra Vista 9-3 on Friday.

MAKAMAE EUGENIO made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other pitching news, GIANNA HORNYAK tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits.

Back at the plate, CHARLIE SIMI was excellent, scoring three runs while going 1-for-2. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. SAMANTHA LEFEVER was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, Coronado unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak dating back to last season on Friday. They came up short against Whittier Christian, falling 8-2. The loss was the Cougars' first of the season.

Bishop Gorman's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Coronado, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
