Allatoona has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. The Allatoona Buccaneers and the Sequoyah Chiefs will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Allatoona comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 18 points in their last 14 games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Allatoona suffered their biggest defeat since December 12, 2023 on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 63-16 loss at the hands of River Ridge. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Allatoona in their matchups with River Ridge: they've now lost eight in a row.
Meanwhile, even though Woodstock scored an imposing 61 points on Tuesday, Sequoyah still came out on top. Sequoyah walked away with a 71-61 win over Woodstock. Given Sequoyah's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while Woodstock is ranked 202nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Allatoona dropped their record down to 0-14 with that defeat, which was their 15th straight at home. As for Sequoyah, their win bumped their record up to 14-7.
Allatoona was dealt a bruising 74-13 defeat at the hands of Sequoyah when the teams last played on January 3rd. Can Allatoona avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
