The Alden Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the East Aurora Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Alden is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Alden barely beat Eden the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs blew past the Raiders 16-5 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Brooklyn Jankowski was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Sawyer Faso was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Alden was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .385 or higher in eight consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, East Aurora came up short against Griffith Institute on Friday and fell 11-6.
Sage Rozanski was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned (and nine unearned) runs off nine hits. Rozanski was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Rozanski wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Caelan Legg, who went 3-for-4 with one run.
Alden's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 9 runs thus far. As for East Aurora, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Alden has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .562. However, it's not like East Aurora struggles in that department as they've averaged .478. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Alden's way against East Aurora in their previous matchup back in April, as Alden made off with a 9-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
