The Warsaw Wildcats are on the road again on Thursday and play against the Stover Bulldogs at 12:00 p.m. on December 21st. Hopefully Warsaw focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday.
Warsaw pushed their score all the way to 60, but even that wasn't enough to win. They received a tough blow as they fell 78-60 to Eldon. While losing is never fun, Warsaw can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 419th, while Eldon is ranked 96th).
Despite the loss, Warsaw got a solid performance out of Logan Gemes, who shot 4-for-9 from deep and dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds. Those 27 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Shane Poyser, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Warsaw were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Stover didn't have too much trouble with Lincoln on the road on Monday as they won 52-37. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Stover has managed all season.
Warsaw's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-7. As for Stover, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Warsaw came up short against Stover when the teams last played back in February, falling 53-40. Can Warsaw avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
