When it comes to explaining why Alief Hastings lost, one person who can't be blamed is Melinda Winston. Despite the final result, she scored 22 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Winston has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Favour Emeka, who scored 12 points.
Alief Taylor's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nataliyah Gray led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Gray is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last 11 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Bush-lewis, who scored 18 points along with five assists.
Alief Hastings has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-16 record this season. As for Alief Taylor, their win bumped their record up to 19-13.
Alief Hastings will head out on the road to square off against the Rams at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Nemiah Renfro and Winston. As for Alief Taylor, they will be playing at home against the Oilers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
