The Westinghouse Bulldogs will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Southern Columbia Area Tigers at 1:00 p.m. on December 8th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Westinghouse had no problem doing just that on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 28-8 margin over the Tigers. Given Westinghouse's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Beaver Falls is ranked 149th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Southern Columbia Area had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.8 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They claimed a resounding 39-7 win over Dunmore on the road.
Garrett Garcia was his usual excellent self, rushing for 189 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Louden Murphy was another key contributor, rushing for 80 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries.
Westinghouse's victory bumped their record up to 13-0. As for Southern Columbia Area, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-1.
Things could have been worse for Westinghouse, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 37-22 loss to Southern Columbia Area when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Thankfully for Westinghouse, Braeden Wisloski (who rushed for 160 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.4 yards per carry, and also picked up 61 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
