The Rowan County Vikings won the last time they faced the Lewis County Lions, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Rowan County walked away with a 60-47 victory over Lewis County. Given Rowan County's advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while Lewis County is ranked 192nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rowan County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Colby Wilburn, who scored 15 points along with three steals. Wilburn hasn't dropped below 15points for 13 straight games. Brayden Mirus was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Rowan County and bumps their season record up to 10-6. As for Lewis County, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rowan County will challenge Fleming County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fleming County will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive. As for Lewis County, they will head out on the road to take on Greenup County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Greenup County is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
