Interlachen hasn't had much luck against St. Joseph Academy recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Rams will face off against the Fighting Flashes at 4:30 p.m. Interlachen has given up an average of 7.3 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Things were looking good for Interlachen after they put the first run on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Hawthorne by a score of 13-12.
Cason Turner made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all five of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert McCumbers, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and three RBI.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph Academy entered their contest against West Nassau on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Fighting Flashes fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 4-3.
Bodie Fidgeon was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.
In other batting news, Michael Perez was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
The defeat was their first at home, dropping their record down to 14-4. As for Interlachen, their record now sits at 4-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Interlachen has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like St. Joseph Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Interlachen suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to St. Joseph Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
