It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Sarasota had no problem doing just that on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 81-66 victory over the Plant City Raiders. The win was nothing new for the Sailors as they're now sitting on 17 straight.
Sarasota found their leader in sophomore John Lackaff, who went 13-for-25 en route to 35 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Oliver Boyle, who went 7-for-13 to rack up 20 points.
Sarasota was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Despite the defeat, Plant City saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Vare Miller went 6-for-10 on his way to 15 points along with five boards and three steals. Miller is also crushing it when it comes to field goal percentage: he's posted at least 0.5 every time he's taken the court this season. Akeim Young was another key player, going 6-for-13 en route to 14 points.
Sarasota's record is now 27-2. As for Plant City, their loss dropped their record down to 19-9.
Coming up, Sarasota will challenge Osceola at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sarasota knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 17 matchups -- so hopefully Osceola likes a good challenge. Plant City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
