Basketball Recap: Beech Grove Comes Up Short

Beech Grove was the 75-46 winner over Tri-West Hendricks when they last played one another back in December of 2018, but their luck changed this time around. The Beech Grove Hornets received a blow on Friday as they fell 63-45 to the Tri-West Hendricks Bruins.

Despite the defeat, Beech Grove saw an underclassman step up: freshman Bishop Moore dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 boards. Those 12 boards set a new season-high mark for Moore. Another player making a difference was Jasaum Sowell, who posted seven points.

Even though they lost, Beech Grove smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in November of 2023.

Tri-West Hendricks got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Wes Ward out in front who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten blocks. With that strong performance, Ward is now averaging an impressive 2.8 blocks per game. Ryan Miller was another key player, going 6 of 10 on his way to 16 points.

Beech Grove has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Tri-West Hendricks, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Beech Grove wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 43-37 win against Indianapolis Bishop Chatard on the 8th. As for Tri-West Hendricks, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 71-61 loss against McCutcheon on the 4th.
