It was a good run, but the Brandon Academy Scorpions unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Bayshore 53-49.
When it comes to explaining why Brandon Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jeremiah McNeely. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals. McNeely hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Will Hawes, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Bayshore got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was William Strawbridge out in front who scored 16 points. Strawbridge has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Antonio Romo, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Brandon Academy's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-13. As for Bayshore, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-12.
Brandon Academy and Cambridge Christian will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Zay Burton and Shavon Birch. As for Bayshore, they will head out on the road to challenge Palmetto at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Palmetto presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Bayshore in Florida (Palmetto is ranked 232nd, while Bayshore is ranked 486th).
